How the conversion math works

Every pay period is a different slice of the same annual number. The calculator normalises whatever you type into an annual figure first, then divides it back out. An hourly rate becomes annual pay by multiplying by weekly hours and paid weeks; a monthly figure becomes annual by multiplying by 12; a semi-monthly figure by 24; a biweekly figure by 26. That single conversion step is why the table below the total always ties out.

The "true hourly rate" line is the one that changes decisions. It divides annual pay by the hours you really work, so a salary that quietly consumes 48 hours a week shows a lower hourly value than the headline suggests. If that rate matters to you, compare it against the after-tax value of an overtime hour before agreeing to a schedule change.
