Where Timesheets Go Wrong
Auto-deducted lunches. If the system takes 30 minutes every day but you worked through lunch twice, that's an hour of unpaid work — and it's recoverable.
Off-the-clock prep. Booting a terminal, donning gear, or a pre-shift huddle is compensable time under the FLSA.
Averaging two weeks. Overtime is calculated per workweek. 50 hours one week and 30 the next is 10 hours of OT, not zero.
Mixing hours and minutes. 7:45 is 7.75 hours in payroll, not 7.45.
