Lunch Break Calculator
Work out how much of your scheduled day is actually paid once the lunch comes out, how the deduction pushes overtime later in the week, and what unpaid break time adds up to across a year.
Your Shift and Breaks
Rest breaks of 20 minutes or less are treated as paid work time. Longer relief periods are treated as unpaid.

The Test Is Relief From Duty, Not the Clock
Whether a lunch is unpaid does not turn on what the schedule calls it. It turns on whether you were completely relieved of duty for the whole period. Eating at a nurses' station while covering call lights, staying on a loading dock to sign for a delivery, or keeping a radio on are all duty, and duty is paid.
The knock-on effect is overtime. Unpaid meal minutes are not hours worked, so they do not count toward the 40-hour threshold — but paid rest breaks do. If your employer deducts a break that should have been paid, the shortfall shows up twice: in straight time, and in the overtime premium you never received. The time card calculator rebuilds the week so you can compare it against your stub.
