How to Calculate Time and a Half Pay
Time and a half means your employer pays you 1.5 times your regular hourly rate for overtime hours. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), non-exempt employees are entitled to this 1.5x hourly pay for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek. For example, if you earn $25/hour, your time and a half rate is $37.50/hour.
Some states like California offer double time pay (2.0x) for hours worked over 12 in a single day, providing even greater protection for workers.
